Good Stuff, I couldn't have said it better, and I have tried. At the end of the day conditioning and GPP are under the umbrella of fitness but aren't the whole damn thing.

Yeah, that would be why I said "there's no point looking at the affiliates because they're all different".

I'm talking purely about the main page programming and ridiculous claims, and I said as much.

You do realize that CF affiliates have a foundations class to teach proper lifting technique? Unless you are going to a subpar CF box, the workouts are well thought out and scaled to your ability. Of course, as you fatigue, your form does deteriorate. This is why you must scale the work outs. You can pick any training style and you will find people who have good and bad technique. The negatives that you discuss are not unique to cross fit only. Go in any gym in the country and watch people working out. Some of the things people do to themselves keep me in business as a rehab specialist.

CrossFit? No no... more like CULTFit. People follow that shit like a religion.

And I gotta agree. As a Certified Gymnastics Coach, I'm ashamed to say that the gymnastics repped by Crossfit is half bullshit... at least now. It was alright when it was a little un known but the fact that it's been blown out of proportion has lead this program making some ridiculous claims.

F*cking tools. Go seek REAL gymnastics training. It-Will-Kick-Your-Ass.

Man, you were really going for controversy this week with the BB article and then this. This really is some great stuff. Too bad discussion of this got locked on the crossfit site, but, well, they're a publishing company who has to protect the bottom line, not an open source community. I spent much of yesterday evening reading the rest of your archives. If only I could afford a copy of Supertraining...

Perryman you crack me up. You have turned "button pushing" into a form of art and I love it.

To the humorless exercisers that get all butthurt when Matt "attacks" your chosen system, thanks for the laughs , you guys are great. Keep it up.

I agree with every single point made in this article. Thankfully, my CF affiliate does periodise cycles with different goals, builds up strength base before going crazy on metcons, doesn't prescribe silly movements like sumo deadlift highpulls and med ball cleans, and fosters a community of hard work and camaraderie.

I know the can't be said for 90% of the other 2000 or whatever affiliates, but at least my one does, and that's why I CF. I have zero loyalty to HQ, I think they're mad, especially in terms of programming, but thankfully, due to a lack of franchising, that has no influence on me.

Well written article, hopefully some affiliates and CF will sit up and take notice.
