Based on the facts, your conclusion is a matter of common sense. The strategy you present seems to be more geared for an audience that is more dedicated to working out and the ability to devote significant time to it. What about the audience that is in relatively 'average' shape, getting physical activity through work or recreation but finds their BMI has crept up in recent years due to a slowing metabolism from the aging process. What if this audience just wants to spend as little time as possible working out and do not need to produce a 5000 calorie a week deficit, but more like a 2500 deficit with 50% of that achieved through diet so they only need to burn about 1,200 calories through formal exercise each week? Wouldn't 15 minutes of interval training 3 times a week be a more efficient use of their time since recovery isn't a big factor - not being a professional athlete and what not?
